Why are VELVEE Hair extensions better than everyone else?
VELVEE wefts are the narrowest and thinnest on the market, with more hair per weft than any other brand. That means each weft sits nearly invisible against your head for a comfortable, seamless fit. Every strand is 100% Remy human hair, double drawn so it stays thick from root to tip, and sourced from a single donor. Our American made VELVEE Tape holds firmly without tugging or pulling. The result is instant length, volume, and the look of strong, healthy hair, even if you were not born with it.
What is included in the VELVEE Kit?
Every VELVEE Kit includes one set of 100% Remy, double drawn, single donor human hair in your choice of color and length, plus:
- VELVEE Tape to install your extensions
- Full size VELVEE Extension Remover
- Two hair safe scrunchies
- Two alligator clips
- A VELVEE separator comb
- A satin storage bag
- A full size nylon zip VELVEE pouch
What are the grams and lengths?
VELVEE Hair comes in four lengths, each with a full, double drawn amount of hair:
- 18 inch, 120g
- 20 inch, 130g
- 22 inch, 140g
- 24 inch, 150g

How many wefts come in a Kit, and how wide are they?
Every VELVEE Kit includes seven long wefts in a range of widths, so you can place them precisely and blend seamlessly:
- Two 10 inch wide wefts
- One 6 inch wide weft
- Two 4 inch wide wefts
- Two 2 inch wide wefts
Because our wefts are long, you cover more of your head with fewer pieces than a traditional tape-in, which uses many short wefts. That means faster application and a more seamless finish.
I have fine or thinning hair. Will VELVEE work for me?
Yes. VELVEE is designed with fine and thinning hair in mind. Because our wefts are the flattest and lightest available, they blend beautifully as long as you have enough natural hair to cover the tape. Many of our customers with thinning hair get their best results with VELVEE. If you are unsure, email a few photos to rachael@velveehair.com for a personal recommendation.
Is one VELVEE Kit enough for me?
For most people, yes. Because each Kit holds more hair per weft than other brands, one Kit is plenty. If your hair is very thick or very short and you want extra blending, a second Kit can help. We also offer Extra Pieces in limited colors if you just need a little more.
Can I reuse my VELVEE extensions?
Yes. With good care, you can wear, remove, and reuse your extensions for up to 9 months. We recommend removing and reinstalling every 4 weeks to keep them looking their best.
*Every Kit comes with a full digital guide covering install, removal, and care, so you can follow along step by step.
How do VELVEE Hair extensions work?
With a regular tape-in, your hair gets sandwiched between two tape wefts. VELVEE uses the VELVEE Overlay Method™ instead. You simply lay your own hair over a single long weft, and the double sided VELVEE Tape holds it in place. The result is faster, more comfortable, and virtually invisible.
Do the extensions come ready to install?
It depends on which hair you receive. Some of our wefts arrive with the tape already attached and are ready to install right away. Others arrive without tape, so you attach it yourself, which takes just a few minutes per weft. Either way, every Kit includes the tape you need to get started.
How do I install my VELVEE extensions?
- Prepare your wefts. Lay each weft flat, peel one side of the double sided tape, and line the tape up with the weft. The tape and weft are made to match in size. When you reach the end of the weft, do not cut the tape. Turn the weft over and continue the tape on the other side, then trim the excess.
- Section your hair. Starting at the lowest point where you want length, section off your hair. Peel back one side of the tape and place the weft just below your section.
- Press firmly. Press the weft into place for a strong hold, then peel away the remaining backing.
- Blend. Let your natural hair fall over the weft to cover it, and press gently again for a seamless finish.
- Repeat. Work through the rest of your sections the same way until your look is complete.
How long should I wait before washing?
Wait at least 48 hours after installing so the tape can bond fully to your hair.
Can I brush or comb my hair?
Yes, and you should. Brush daily to keep your hair smooth and tangle free. Hold the extensions gently at the roots while you brush so you are not pulling on the tape.
Will extensions cause hair loss?
No. You naturally shed 50 to 100 hairs a day. Normally those strands fall away without you noticing. With extensions, some of that shed hair collects on the tape instead, which can look like a lot at first. It is simply your everyday shedding, not hair loss, and nothing to worry about.
Can I use hot tools?
Yes. Keep any hot tool at or below 335 degrees, always use a heat protectant, and never apply heat directly to the tape.
Can I use product on my extensions?
Yes. A heat protectant is a must, and many customers love a shine spray. Just keep all product away from the tape itself. Heavy oils and conditioner near the tape can loosen your hold, so apply those to the mid lengths and ends only.
Do I need a special shampoo?
No. Almost any shampoo works. We like a hydrating or repair formula to keep your hair soft.
Do I have to sleep a certain way?
No special routine is needed, but a few habits help. Go to bed with dry hair, and tie your hair back in a loose braid or wear a silk cap to prevent tangling overnight.
How do I get the longest wear out of my extensions?
Keep your roots clean and free of product buildup, use no oils near the tape, and try to limit long stretches in saunas, steam rooms, or saltwater. Gentle daily care is what keeps your extensions looking fresh and holding strong.
I removed my extensions and my hair feels sticky. What do I do?
If any sections feel sticky after removal, spray them with VELVEE Extension Remover or VELVEE Lift, wait 20 to 60 seconds, then comb through with your VELVEE separator comb. Repeat if needed. In the shower, condition those sections first, then wash and condition again. Repeat until the residue is gone.
How do I remove my VELVEE extensions?
- Prepare for removal. Spray VELVEE Extension Remover on both sides of the tape, on top and underneath. Saturate each weft well. The more you saturate, the easier removal will be.
- Wait and separate. Let the remover sit for 10 to 20 seconds, then gently ease your hair away from the tape. Take your time so you do not damage your natural hair. With enough remover, the tape and hair separate easily.
- Cleanse. Wash your hair thoroughly to clear your scalp and any leftover residue. If you plan to reinstall, skip heavy conditioning. Clean hair helps the tape adhere better next time.
Can you help with color matching?
Absolutely. We photograph our shades as accurately as possible, though monitors vary. For the truest sense of a color, review the photos and videos for each shade. The best way to match with confidence is to order a color swatch first.
Can I dye VELVEE Hair extensions?
Yes. If you do dye them, add an extra conditioning treatment after each wash to keep them soft and beautiful.
Can I cut the wefts?
Yes. We pre-cut the wefts, but you can trim them further for the most accurate fit.
